KING KONG 'Cloud’ painting
Oil on canvas
Dimensions: 152 cm x 152cm
King Kong copyright pip Dickens Part of the Film Forensic of paintings to be exhibited at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery in August 2010.

'King Kong' represents the vanished, extinguished, gone...It acknowledges the truly awesome in nature - terrifying yet beautiful. Peter Jackson's film 'King Kong' powerfully addresses the issue of the isolation of a creature at the point of imminent extinction.

The outer edges of the painting , or cinematic 'letterbox' frames a phantasmagoric view of space - a gaseous cloud building in momentum. Classical varnish processes combining multiple layers of subtle tints were used to build the image up, gradually, to emphasise spatial depth and atmosphere.
